This one’s a wild ride. So it’s partly flipped from samples of a song by HeavyHeavyLowLow. They’re a math rock band, which inspired me to play with tempo and turn this track into an industrial, evil, sort of sexy cross-genre experience. This project was, like many tracks on BOTY, so complex that it became an engineering nightmare. The result, though, is like. A fever dream.
At this point, despite god’s best efforts, Lucifer’s starting to remember who he is. And he’s maaad. Like, are you serious? You tried to teach me a lesson in humility? Time to get more arrogant than ever.
It’s very literally about being trans and having a thousand voices from different sides giving their unsolicited perspective on who and what I am, what I should be, what my motivations are. That I’m taking it too far. That I’m faking. That it’s hot. That it’s not. That it’s a shame.
Basically, it’s me being a petulant child. You think I need your input? I’m good, thanks. You think you’re my god? I’m god, thanks.
Also I rhymed with the onomatopoeia of a hi-hat's 'tick' so - bit proud of that.
